I never thought I'd be saying this but I'm warming to theism.
The reason?
I watched a programme on BBC TV last night called "The End Of God. An Horizon Guide To Science And Religion" (catch up with it on BBC iPlayer) After rubbishing the concept of gods it came up with a perfectly understandable explanation as to why the belief in gods is manifest amongst humankind and why it will persist even if it were to be PROVED that gods do not exist. It's an area of the brain that's been named "The God Spot". A sort of "comfort blanket" if you like.
So I have arrived at the conclusion that I will no longer knock these beliefs as I have now realised that faith in your particular god is there purely as a form of succour. Though I have to admit that in the wrong hands this "comfort blanket" can stifle, smother and even kill.
