I'm not against religions per se, I just don't see a call for imagined gods. Gods that have obviously been created by Man from around the very first moment that Man developed abstract thought as we evolved from our ape ancestry.
Early evolving Man would've needed to answer questions. Why does the sun rise and fall? What is that noise in the sky? Why does the ground shake? Why does that mountain roar and belch fire and smoke? Why am I here?
To all of those questions (and many more) Man didn't have answers. So he put it down to mysterious forces that were out of his control and understanding. GOD was born to take the credit.
